Deriving an Initial Problem Statement is probably the most crucial part of any critique, at any level. However, in the arrangement of every work-place realm, there are several problems emerge with the passage of time. To identify an actual unique problem, I critically scrutinized the arrangement of my work-place. In this problematizing process, I overlook both aspects of the work place, my personal and others understanding of the work place problems. The most researchable problem, which helps me in further expanding my thesis, is the “late sitting” problem. In this contemporary business environment, late sitting got becomes a principle practice in most organizations. Employees got obligated to sit extra and work for organizations, without attaining reimbursements at all. However, some employees are very efficient and finish their work at time, but still they are mandatory to sit extra to do some extra work. My workplace boss usually says “when we sit extra and work, why you employees got so obnoxious. We all are equally human beings, we all tired equally”. It is becoming a common practice in every organization. At my work place, especially, employees do not take it contentedly to be enforced to sit extra. I think no worker in the world appreciates this act of being got imposed to sit late. We have been hearing since ages that the organization is deriving the policy, which enable employees to go on time - rescind the late sitting concept. However, till date, there is no such improvement set up. There are various studies, which prove that non-reinforced late sitting frustrates and depresses employees.
To bring out the real capabilities of any individual, it is essential to provide him/her space and time to adjust and perform at its level best. Depressed employees are unable to perform accordingly. Therefore - on a long run - they are unable to meet the definite expectations of the organization. This is a genuine issue in the professional business environment and can be considered as a silent problem of the workplace environment (Hassell, K. 2011).
Problem Statement
Non-compensated “late sittings” lead employees to dejection, hopelessness and frustration, which become one of the reasons that destroy the professional career of an employee. Organizations only gaze to fulfill their benefits, without considering the rights of an employee.
Relevancy of the Problem
Paying an employee is not the only right he/she has in a professional realm. The problem stated above is considerably pertinent with other management practitioners and the management researches conducted in Business Schools. The extended working hours at my work place makes employees dejected, feel like forced and rushed. From ages, business schools are debating upon the performance of employees, measuring through various performance management systems. However, the occurrence of late sitting is also amongst other factors, which decrease the performance each employee.
With other Management Practitioners
Expended working hours or late sitting is primarily a widespread problem, which has become generic with the course of ...
