Monsanto is founded in 1901 and is registered as a public limited company in 1927. The company has its branch offices in more than 60 countries. The company produces seeds and herbicides and uses them in production since 1990s. The company also produces genetically modified seeds which increases the productivity of the soil. The company product portfolio contains verities of products like maize and broad-spectrum herbicides containing the active ingredients which require the soil a new life.

The name of the company is derived from the family name Monsanto, Monsanto Chemical Works, with an initial seed capital of $ 5,000 (. At that time the goal of the company is to produce saccharin and to achieve this company has only a single employee who is a Swiss chemist named Veillon (1875-1958), he had a working experience at Sandoz chemicals.
