Talent management is a process that began in the 90's; and continues to take by companies that realize what drives the success of your business are the talents and skills of their employees. Companies that have talent management practice have done to solve the problem of employee retention. This reflective paper highlights the positive aspects and challenges faced in conducting research for examining the role of talent management in MCB Pakistan.
Evaluation of Positive Factors of Research Project
Companies have begun to realize that it takes much time and effort in selecting and training staff to achieve effective work teams and highly competitive, which consider the human talent as their most valuable asset. The most important thing that went well with the research project is that no hindrance was received from the managers who were asked to participate in the research. Main challenge was to explore the realistic approach by the management of a Bank currently running its operations in an emerging banking industry in Pakistan. The article generated a positive emotional response because it provided new dimensions of exploring the interconnected factors of talent management. Unexpected strong impression of receiving inappropriate responses was quite high because managers do not like to highlight the weaknesses of their respective divisions as it might go against their performance evaluation. However, orientation towards the attention for exploring the learning process and how information is internalized contributed positively in the research.
Differential Approach for Research in the Same Area
In order to take a different approach in the same area again, I would be exploring the fundamentals of talent management from the perspectives of operational level employees. Currently, the research explores the importance of talent management from the perspectives of managers in Banking Sector and how do they manage employees. To make a distinction in the objective, I would explore how effectively talent management practices influence the cognitive capacities and talent of resource level employees. Another research dimension relates to investigating the talent management practices from a managerial perspective in other than the banking industry. In order to take the research in the same area again, I would explore the role of talent management in the pharmaceutical industry.
