In the month of March last year I had a yearly appraisal meeting with Mercy. In order to review her annual progress I had the training and development file of Mercy. This was because I needed to read the documents in order to see what efforts were made by her and what was lacking throughout in terms of her target. As a manager this is my duty and it also essential for the manager according to The Care standards act. The care standards act states that all employees within a company have a right for an annual appraisal. Before the meeting I also provided the staff workers a copy of their job description so that it could be discussed accordingly based on the staff workers' job duties and what difficulties were they facing on job. The care taking responsibilities are changing with the time depending on the needs of the users. This helps the workers in fulfilling their duties and to gain positive results for the service users. The meeting with the staff workers was held in the office and I also instructed that I should not be disturbed by anyone else throughout the meeting. This was to make sure I can provide full concentration to Mercy for her annual appraisal. The meeting started on time as mercy reached by office on schedule and the first task was to discuss about her job and whether she was satisfied with it or not. It was also important to discuss this to make sure that Mercy was not having any problems that she wanted me to know regarding any of the staff workers or aspects related to her job. However, Mercy said that she was very happy with her job and was wishing to progress in the company and performing QCF 3 the current year. After this I reviewed her overall performance throughout the year and was very satisfied with her efforts and convinced her that it was something that she should be proud of. I authorized Mercy to mentor a new staff worker who was joining the organization. This decision was made in order to provide Mercy more experience related to her position of supervision and would also be beneficial for her future development. Mercy was happy with the extra duty and said she was ready to take the supervisory duty. I agreed to provide Mercy's name to the training provider to be inducted as a first priority. Making end notes I told mercy that there was not anything further to be discussed and wrote the discussion and necessary content into her file and signed the document. Finally Mercy also signed the document and the file was secured confidentially in a lockable cupboard according to The Data Protection Act 1998.
