Introduction

This essay is based on the Psychosocial Nursing. The purpose of this assignment is to conduct the psychosocial assessment of the patient. The paper will evaluate and critically analyse how the cancer patients suffers from psychosocial issue. Furthermore, the paper will identify the factors that impact on participant's psychosocial health and measures that would be appropriate to optimize participant's psychosocial health.

Psychosocial interventions generally address psychosocial risk factors for depression, with the rationale that targeting modifiable factors may decrease depression and reduce the risk of later depression, particularly if medications are not likely to address these vulnerabilities. The Erickson's psychosocial theory model assumes that each person develops in stages, which are created in each of birth. Each level has a specific issue that is currently in each of the appropriate level. Success is determined in each case from the corresponding culture. If there are problems in personality development, with the help of the stages can be found, what crisis has not yet been successfully overcome. Psychosocial rehabilitation is part of comprehensive care for chronically mentally ill and seeks to complement pharmacotherapy to achieve improved personal and social functioning (Rodin, 2012).

Cancer is one disease that demands immediate attention and must be reported to the specialist as soon as possible. Along with all the other affects that come along with cancer, in the life of an effected patient. Cancer very shoddily affects the psychosocial part of the life of a human. Psychosocial means the development of humans psychological and interaction quality within the social environment.

Identification of Psychosocial Issue in Cancer Patients

The psychosocial issue that has been identified for the discussion is Depression. According to various psychologists almost every cancer patient suffer from the psychosocial issue and one of the most common issue is depression in the cancer patient. Depression is the factor that is important coping with because it may be a barrier in the treatment of cancer. Depression has been the most common factor in the cancer patients and researchers has been indulged for years to find the solution.

The cancerous disease has always been accompanied by psychological repercussions. Psychological intervention and psychosocial assessment for the cancer patients is an integrated and multidisciplinary inter mode, which aims to improve the quality of life and patient adaptation and people in their family. The level of adaptation or adjustment to the disease depends on the clinical severity of the process, the effects of medical treatment, the level of information received, social support and environmental resources, and their ability to cope with stress (Bailey, 2008).

Personal Reflection in Delivering Intervention

I was associated with the intervention program to reduce the depression of the cancer patients. We introduced a home base intervention system through which the patients can improve their quality of life.
