About Clipper-Clips

Clipper-clips is a medium-sized manufacturing company making and selling nail clippers, nail scissors, nail files, tweezers etc. They plan to launch a new range of solid gold and gold-plated nail accessories and expect to expand the range of products and increase their target base. It is particularly interested in producing bespoke nail-clippers where the customer can choose to have their name 'written' on the nail clippers in diamonds.

It is currently based in Middlesborough but plan to expand to Manchester, Brighton and London within the next six months.

Clipper-clips have minimal IT systems currently. It wishes to develop an online ordering system, and have very tight timescales. They currently have a salesforce of 6 staff and do not want to increase that number. It is the manufacturer of making and selling nail, clippers, and nail scissors and so on. Its plan is to launch a new range of solid gold and gold-plated nail accessories and expect to expand the range of products.

Scenario

Business Case:

The company is looking to expand its product line and reach a larger target base, ultimately increasing revenue. This project involves improving the company's computing and multimedia systems in an effort to achieve their goal of reaching a larger audience and increasing sales.

Scope:

The scope of the project concerns the final product, the new system and website. We are concerned with creating a platform that the company can use to reach their goal of increasing its audience and product line, we are not however concerned with the creation of new products or their popularity or the particulars of advertising the products, our scope is the tool in which to present the company's products to an audience and manage sales and post-sale processing.

Budget:

£130,000 has been allocated for the project; last year's gross revenue was £1m so 13-15% of last year's revenue on an expansion project is deemed acceptable.

Tolerances:

The budget has a tolerance level of ±10%

We accept that the launch of a new sales system will have teething problems but we expect not to lose any customers through this project. As the final product we are expecting that customer to not have any issue with the final product.
