Project Design

Introduction

Project Management (PM) refers to the planning, controlling and monitoring of projects. Many concepts and practices are well established and standardized in project management. Project management has also become part of most university programs, such as, in engineering, economics and computer science field. Basic knowledge of project management is taught in these fields of education due to the growing importance of these management practices in relation to projects. This paper focuses on presenting the ways in which a project can be managed by the management of a project.

Discussion

Defining the Scope of the Project and Subdivision

The project boundary is the delineation of the project

On a project related to information systems (implementation of a new ERP evolution of an IS based on a new organization), the total perimeter is the identification and recording of applications / modules impacted by the project. The project can then be sub-divided into sub-projects, each with its own scope. Subdivision of the project is the combination of these sub-projects (Paul, 2005). Each cluster is a set of the project. Lots can sometimes overlap in time or partially parallelize. The goal of a lot of link modules / applications is that it has the strongest inter-dependencies.

Business case

Two sub-projects have been implemented in a large business group to meet the project switches of its entire accounting information system (project called BINGO). The first, entitled BINGO Lot 1 or BINGO1 had the perimeter SI modules related to customer accounting assistant, accounting assistant provider, accounting auxiliary capital and cash accounting assistant. This project was completed before the beginning of the second (Paul, 2005).

The second, BINGO Lot 2 was to scope the modules of the IS-related auxiliary accounting of financial transactions, the loopback module. The subdivision has been to make the switch in two stages to minimize the risk with a transitional period of co-existence of a system and a system in dollars (Paul, 2005).

The Project Team

Organization of the project team

A successful project requires a rigorous and effective organization of the project team. The project organization is dependent on the hierarchy of the company (David, Lewis, 2002). Actors in the SI project team are:

MOA: the project manager, responsible for the expression of a need that the project objective has to achieve. The MOA should describe the requirement in a document, often called functional CDC (Tender functional) or functional specifications. In the case of a project-sounding computer, the MOA is also responsible for preparing functional test cases to look after the developments / settings made by the EOM function (David, Lewis, 2002).

MOA example:

In the case of implementation project module CO (Controlling) SAP software, the MOA consists of controllers involved in the project (David, Lewis, 2002).

EOM: the project management, which takes cognizance of the need expressed and which task to respond to computer. To do this, he writes a record response to the need, sometimes called CDC technique (technical specifications) or settings folder or folder general design still technical study. The MOE is also responsible to developments / necessary settings (David, ...
