Profile of Washington Park, Denver

Lush green grass, slow wind making the leaves dancing slowly in coordination with the wind. Yes this was the scene when I visited Washington Park last Sunday. The park is located in south central Denver. Washington Park is one of the most visited and most loved parks in Denver's historic system of parks and parkways. The park has a unique rectangular shape. It is one of the largest parts in Denver as it covers 165acres of land (Globes, 2011).

The rectangular shape of this Park gives it a unique place among all other parks of Denver. The Park has one of the biggest trail and two beautiful lakes which add to the charm of the Park. The two lakes at Washington Park have a very different character and function in the Park framework. Smith Lake was designed to be more urban, with buildings along its shore and areas for people to stroll and engage the water. Grasmere Lake is more pastoral. Separated from major activity areas it is a refuge to get away from the crowds and allow peoples to enjoy more natural landscape. Washington Park is also known with a name of “Wash Park”. The Wash Park is located in the southwestern side of the province. The Park is surrounded by the city of Cranston on the south, waterfront on the east, and the interstate 95 on the west and north (Globes, 2011).

The person told me that the statue of Wynken Blynken and Nod is associated with the poem written by an American Poet named Eugene Field. The poem is targeted to children as it is a bed time story (Etter, 2001).

That Person also told me about different other beautiful areas of the park like the Perennial Gardens, Mount Vernon Gardens, the Bowling Green and the south tennis courts as it has historic precedent. He also told me that there are plans to restore Wynken, Blynken and Nod sculpture/ pool might be restored to a prior location and condition. He also told me that currently the master plan for this park has been developed ...
