Preventing Teen Suicide

Introduction

Many young people face high level of stress and depression in their daily lives when they interact with different phases and situations. Mainly, when the stress and trauma in an individual's life becomes more than he can handle, a suicide is committed (www.teens.webmd.com, 2009). Thus, it is not surprising that a teen suicide is so common. According to the studies, suicide is the third common reason of death among people.

In addition, this rate is increasingly seen in people between the ages of 10 and 24 (Smith, 2011). The ratio of the suicide commitment is 84% in males and the remaining with the females, with about 4,400 lives lost each year. This is because males choose more violent alternatives as compare to females and they are more likely to be successful. Suicide is often linked to the use of drugs and alcohol. Moreover, the vast majority of people who die by suicide are likely to be suffering from psychiatric problems, depression, some serious life trauma, ignorance in the social or physical life and environmental and situational crisis (www.teensuicide.us, 2005).
