Personal Statement

Social Work is something that has influenced me a lot. People around me are suffering a lot and there is no one to help them. I feel for these people which I why I have decided to take up social work as my career. I live in a country where the people are suffering from different kind of diseases and poverty has worsened the situation. Africa is a country where poverty prevails and the economy of the country is not so strong. This is the reason that the economy is not able to help the people of the country in a way that will benefit them.

These are the reasons, why I want to become a social worker and help the people of my country. Apart from these reasons, one major incident in my life also influenced me to work for the betterment of the people. When I was 14 years old, my elder cousin, who was already involved in social work, taught me the importance of helping others. He told me that it is our responsibility to take care of people around us. He told me that we should always help people who are in need. I was the person who very rarely cared about others and helped them, but my cousin made me realize the importance of helping others and since then my personality changed.

My cousin helped others and made sure to help every person in need. At first I was not able to understand the importance of social work and was not ready to get involved in it, but my cousin was convinced to make me a social worker.
