Path-Goal Leadership Style
The creator of the path-goal theory is Robert House, conceived the theory based on an early version of MG Evans and extracting the key elements of leadership research by Ohio State University, publishing it in 1971, and making a version more elaborate theory of Evans. The term "road - meta" derives from the belief that a good leader clears the way for his followers to come to achieving work objectives and follows the path more smoothly, reducing errors and deviations (Baumeister & Tice, 2009).
In essence, this approach requires that the leader's mission is to help their followers to achieve their goals and provide enough direction and support to ensure that their goals are compatible with the overall objectives of the group or organization.
Another proposed theory is that leader behavior increases the effort of the followers, ie is motivating because it does depend on meeting the needs of the followers of effective performance through training, management, support and Rewards. According to the path-goal theory, a leader's behavior is acceptable to subordinates to the extent that is seen by them as an immediate source of satisfaction or as a means of future satisfaction (Tagger, 2009).
