Technology and communication are now interlinked with each other up to a huge extent. In fact, it will be fair to say that various scientists, researchers and research institutes have dedicated their time in order to propose, plan and implement various technological wonders and gadgets in order to achieve effective communication means and methods. It has been long since scientist and other experts in the communication field have been working on finding ways to ensure accurate and erroneous data and information transmission in order to achieve effective communication between two devices or ultimately the human operators operating those devices. Hence, after years of research, many such tools and ways were proposed, researched and implemented by the scientists. Out of many, the use and applications of fiber in the fields of communication is a common practice. Therefore, fibers in various forms through different methods are used to ensure non-erroneous data transmission and ultimately achieving affective communication.
Literature Review
Fiber Optics are undoubtedly the most recognized means of communication in various devices. Originated first in the year 1970s, the use of fiber or fiber optics has rejuvenated the industry of telecommunication and all the related aspects. Moreover, they have also played an important role in the advent, development and progress of Information age. In fact, because of the unlimited advantages that it has to offer, optic fiber communication has overshadowed the use and application of copper wire networks in all the core networks.
Therefore, all researchers, scientists and other professionals have diverted their attention to this particular field of communication. Hence, many researches since have been put forth a number of ideas and theories in relevance to the topic. These researches so far have discussed the characteristics of the fiber optics, their uses and applications in several fields and aspects, the commercial applications and techniques that should be adapted to further improve the quality of optic fiber communication (Mark & Peter, 2011).
Fiber-optic communication can simply be defined as a process of transmitting data from one place to another or sharing information between two destinations. However, it is important to note that the transmission is achieved by sending light pulses through an optical fiber. Many researches therefore along with the passage of time have proved that the use of fiber instead of metal wires helps the signal travel with lesser loss. Moreover, they are also immune to the adverse effects of electromagnetic interference (Kay & Pasquale, 2013).
There have been a number of applications proposed by many researches regarding the applications of these fibers. The telecom industry is the biggest beneficiary of these fibers. However, there light weight and resilience to various losses makes them compatible with a number of computer applications.
However, as the technology and various other gadgets upgrades, the tools and techniques related to this equipment also needs to be upgraded. Hence, because of the advent o many new applications and other services, the need of faster and more reliable ...
