1. Describe the situation that MTL are now facing; what do you think are the current challenges facing the management team at MTL?
Challenges at Moran Technology
In the highly competitive business environment of the present day, identification of problems is extremely important so as to ensure that they could be overcome, and the ultimate goal of the business could be achieved i.e. profit maximization. The important thing to be considered here is the fact that profit maximization is only possible through revenue generation, which is based on sales volumes. The sales of any product regardless of its nature depend upon customer satisfaction. Disgruntled customer base can bring down your whole business.
For this reason, identifying problems that might stand in the way of your business success is of prime importance because you can only start working upon fixing them if you know what went wrong when and how. Also, problem identification helps in the process improvement and can help your business gain a competitive edge (Banft, 2010, pp.17-17). Successful businesses are those that are always involved in Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and Total Quality Management (TQM).
The aim of problem analyses is to achieve the strategic goals while profitably satisfying both the customer base and the different stakeholder groups of the company. Therefore, problems identification helps in the alignment of the corporate goals with business continuity, whilst addressing the potential strategic issues which need to be tackled. In Moran Technology's case, these strategic issues are IT issues because that is the nature of the company's business. Thus, in order to be successful; in the long-term Moran Technology needs to address the IT issues through effective intervention and viable solutions (Goldman, 2004, pp.285-291).
Through strategic planning, Moran Technology can competently manage its IT issues and become the market leader in the rapidly changing landscape of the IT industry. In the contemporary era, it is not possible to ignore the IT issues for any organization, let alone those operating in the IT industry like Moran Technology. In order for Moran Technology, to sustain its success, ensure business continuity, and enhance core competencies it needs to address and resolve IT issues on a priority basis. For the reason, that is depends heavily on IT structures, and a failure to solve the problems faced it will fail as a company and will lose its strategic vision, which it needs to fulfill for success (Rombalsky, 2007, pp.1-20).
One of the biggest problems faced by Moran Technology Corporation is the fact that it does not invest in an adequate amount of research and development. This has only surfaced because of the prevalence of technical and technological issues with every other model of its telecommunication and landlines. Perhaps the reason behind this problem is that Moran Technology does not manufacture computers it assembles them.
Since, Moran Technology has to buy different computer parts from different manufacturers in order to meet its customers' demands ...
