Q1- Compare and contrast different organisational structures and culture within any two companies within the Virgin Group.

Virgin Group Ltd is a famous company that is well known for having its strong presence in the large number of global markets that includes music, radio, and mobile services, among others. The tactics related to the leadership and management of the company are also highlighted by the media because of their excellent track record regarding their performance. The Virgin brand was established in 1968 and is now acknowledged globally because of the successful work. Sir Richard Branson is the present chairman of the company and is quite famous for his vivid and competitive leadership. There are several scholars and business analysts who state that Virgin Group's success is because of an innovative leadership style of Branson. The business plan was to have a focus on very small segments of a particular market and to carry out high quality job by providing the product or service to the consumers. This concept assists in the achievement of small monopolies in a market share and even plays a useful role in the creation of very high profit margins (Baker, 1989, 356).

The contribution towards the success was an ability to lead people towards an innovation and growth. Virgin Group's organisational culture was quite different as a result. Virgin Group is recognised as a parent company that comprises of more than 100 companies which operates in different industries which are often not related in some way or the other. The common division within each company is the Virgin Brand. The brand has a lot of similarity or is identical within every separate operation. This image is related to quality and also innovation associated with the Virgin Group. When an exceptional brand is created, the company does not find any difficulty in building up high level of loyalty across the customer base. The diversity of businesses is controlled by the Virgin Group which assists the company in maintaining a high level of loyalty in several different industries. This is the final cause because of which the company has achieved considerable level of success in several different business ventures. There are managers within the company that have used the concept of innovation for inspiring the employees in having contribution towards the company at all levels, rather than following the message which they have been told. Employees can have their contribution towards the cutting edge products along which the company looks for new ways in increasing the overall competence of the organization. The Virgin Group has not found any difficulty in establishing a management style which provided encouragement to the employees in being competitive in their work. This even gives people the aspiration for seeing the company achieving success for having contribution to a fresh and original business model (Boguslaski, 2004, 350).
