Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the multicultural issues that are present in the modern day society against people who are employed in Human Services. What discriminations are present in the society and how the people work with them, all will be discussed here. Secondary data shall be used as basis of material for the research.

Introduction

Effective coordination is a critical pre-requisite for the provision of effective human service. Coordination rests extensively on the degree to which individuals in the said scenario are willing to coordinate with each other. This demands the adequate flow of information and the sharing of resources. In essence, the necessity of team work increases extensively. However, a team effort, no matter how small the team may be, demands that members are respected and their opinions are also given regard (Anthony, Marsella & Pedersen, 2004). Modern times give infinite relevance to the role of effective coordination and cooperative performance. No matter how small the team or what the setting, the role and relevance of effective coordination and cooperative performance remains unquestioned. In order to engage in such a task and become part of such an arrangement, it is imperative for the involved individuals to be adequately aware of the values that are of relevance to each other (Banks, 1994). Cultural values have a significant degree of influence on the overall approach adopted by individuals. As a result, awareness of cultural values can help realize the rationale behind the opinions held by different people. An inadequate approach towards may raise Multicultural issues if cultural values of the individual's present in the scenario are violated. In such a case, the situation can be expected to go from bad to worse because coordination will deteriorate and the entire effort may go to waste (Baruth & Manning, 2011).

Multicultural issues are of major relevance in modern day human service on account of the fact that effective human service demands interaction with people belonging to a wide variety of cultural backgrounds (Boyd, 2011). Different cultures have different values and varying approaches to social interaction. As a result, effectiveness of human service rests on the individual's awareness of the factors that impact the individual's approach towards different tasks.

With the evolution of the modern workplace, the relevance of cultural issues has a new found meaning; one that was not present in the past (Cai & Mingshui, 2008). In the last century, the barriers that divided people through culture came down, leading the world to become a smaller place. A person working in a social setting can be expected to come into interaction with countless people within the span of a single day.
