This leadership philosophy paper aims to provide the concept of leadership understood by, during class. Leadership philosophy has gained much greater attention in the contemporary years. The paper strives to provide an insight into my leadership philosophy and is build up on the story, which I told in class. My leadership philosophy started building up as soon as I gained a leadership experience as a director of a renowned university. The paper also presents my personal leadership values, assumptions and beliefs. It can be argued that a personal leadership philosophy is a way of seeing ourselves as the future leaders. This personal leadership philosophy also acts as a guide for our thoughts, actions and behaviors.
My Definition of Leadership
In general terms, I do agree with Chemers (1997) on a broader concept of leadership as a thorough process of influencing others, also assisting and supporting them to accomplish a common task. My leadership philosophy started shaping up when I gained experience as a director, in one of the biggest University in my country. The rector of my university aided me in understanding the concept of a true leader, which helped me in building up my own leadership philosophy. I observed that my university's rector was always humble in resolving the issues of his employees, as well as, students. His doors remained always open to everyone, no matter how little or unimportant the issue was he still listens to the issue with all respect. This respect showing nature of the rector made him act as a leader for the people and people started obeying and following his decisions with equal respect. Somewhere in my mind, I started building up a concept of giving respect to people in order to gain respect and become a leader. When I became the director of the university, most of the employees were of my age so I decided to give equal respect to them, which helped me in gaining respect and gaining acceptance of my decisions with much passion, from them.
This experience helped in developing my own leadership philosophy. I believe that leadership skills are innate, far better than what we study in the books and articles. However, leadership skills can also be learned in order to work more effectively. I also believe that it is easy to be a manager for anyone, but, becoming a leader is not easy for everyone. Leadership skills are natural and are born with a person.

Personal values are never violated by the leader as they guide a leader's intentions and influence greatly the way he leads. It is significant to have clear set and understanding of personal values, as a pillar of leading. Therefore, I have ...
