Indian Culture Immersion

Introduction

Wedding ceremonies in India differ in clear traditionalism - which means that they have remained almost the same as thousands years ago. Just to emphasize that substantial than an Indian marriage is different from all others. In other countries, usually a young man chooses a girl, often found the reverse situation. In India, marriage is completely dependent on the decision of the groom's parents. They look for a suitable bride for her son and her parents agree on the future of the marriage union. From the little girl that depends: in the end, parents can simply order her to marry even in unfamiliar young man, and she must obey. That's why Indian matrimonial system called "marriage by prior arrangement."

Discussion

I have lived in India and half years and traveled to various states and have seen a lot of wedding ceremonies which are very different and on the number of people and resources spent. In this research paper, Indian wedding immersion in terms of Indian culture will be given in detail.

Events Attended

I attended most of the wedding events in West Bengal, after a preliminary agreement between the parents of two meetings organized by the young, called "Ashir-wad" - "a blessing" - first to the bride's house, and then the groom's house. Young at the same time receive gifts from parents and relatives, and give as gifts to each other.

On the wedding day the bride and groom are not allowed to eat anything until the beginning of the marriage ceremony. In the house of the bride from among the relatives of the girls sing wedding songs and dances. Then occurs a small but important ritual called "Gaia holud" is a ceremony praising the yellow color, which the Indians associated with the color of the sun and serves as a symbol of fidelity. The ceremony of "Gaye holud" festival of colors is very similar to "holy", with the only difference being that the paint is yellow. First, all participants own their foreheads painted, and then sprinkle each other with yellow powder.

After the "Gaye holud" father of the groom's solemn voice lists the names of the dead relatives of the family, as if calling them to witness and reporting to the spirits of ancestors, that their child will marry. Then all the participants of the ceremony are sent to the bride's house, where the ceremony of "Gaye holud" repeats.
