Introduction

Demography is the study of human populations with respect to size, composition, spatial distribution and population changes that occur over time. Populations are not static; they grow or decline through the interplay of three demographic processes (Spillmann & Lubitz, 2000, pp. 1409-1415):

Fertility Number of births occurring to an individual or a population,

Death of an individual mortality or the number of deaths in a population.

Migration The movement of people occurs in a specific area.
