How can you integrate technology and the common core English Language Arts Standards (ELA)?

Introduction

In this research paper the researcher would be analyzing that what will be the effects of introducing the integrated technology and the common core of English Language Arts (ELA) Standards. As these schools are not having ELA standards and the use of technology set in their schooling system therefore they are facing setback and are far behind from other well established schools in United States of America. Through this research, the researcher wants to find out that what changes will be faced in the Milwaukee's African American immersion schools after introducing ELA standards and integrated technology.

Milwaukee is one of the most populated and largest cities in the USA of Wisconsin. It is the regional center of the seven county greater Milwaukee areas. Milwaukee holds on the greatest per capita student populations in the North America and it ranking is 6th among the United States of America and the Canadian cities according to the number of college students per 100 residents as per the statistics of 2000 that was conducted by McGill University. As it is one of the most populated cities of United States so it the use of integrated technology will be of great importance as it will add value to the schooling system. The use of English Language Arts Standards will enable them to be competent in the society like the students of other cities are enjoying. The establishment of immersion schools is to foster bilingualism; these schools help the learners in developing their language proficiency and sharpen their communicative competence. This step is really helping Black American people in maintaining their competency level in the market.

The integrated technology will enable the schooling system in getting integrated with the latest technological changes in the educational market. One of the widely used medium in all educational institutions is the integrated technology (Span, 2002). Integrated technology is the use of quality technology tools in the general content areas of educational field, in which students are allowed to apply technology and computer skills in problem solving and learning. The use of integrated technology will help the Milwaukee's African American immersion schools in maintaining competency level in the United States like the other educational institutions are having. The use of integrated technology and ELA standards will enable these schools in lowering down the racial segregation, which have been observed by various researchers.

Discussion

Educational institutions should be equipped with all the latest facilities and should have a common educational standards or curriculum that is being used in a similar way all around the state. The schooling system of every state should be based on such educational principle and objectives that would promote quality educational services (Span, 2002).
