Homeland Security

Introduction

Homeland Security is the expression used for the attempts that a State builds to keep its level of security and guarantee a terror-free and peaceful atmosphere in the state. The objective of the homeland security is gathering of information from the whole the globe and utilizes that information for security of homeland. Before the creation of DHS, the U.S had different techniques for collection of information of intelligence but they were not as sophisticated as the way that the CIA collects information (Wrigh, R., 2002). After the disaster of attack by the Japanese Airforce at Pearl Harbor it was apparent that a strong well organized group is needed to be put together to gather intelligence information for United States national security.

Defeating Worldwide Terrorism

The war against terrorism is in several actions police, political and military government of the United States, supported by various allies with the NATO, against various organizations related to Islamist terrorism, in the first place is Al-Qaeda. These operations are supported by counterterrorism coordination at the UN of various committees set up by the Security Council of the UN, which by resolution 1373 of 28 September 2001 requires all UN member states to take of legislative measures against terrorism and to toughen laws governing the rights of foreigners (Morgan, D., 2003).

Strengthening Our Biological and Nuclear Security

The human dimension is at the risk of fight against terrorism and the risks of WMD abuse for mixed use of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons. the Global Partnership Program is supporting the sustainable employment and scientific activities for peaceful purposes of thousands of former weapons researchers in Russia, Ukraine and other countries of the former Soviet Union and is developing similar programs in other regions (Lennon, Genevieve, and Clive Walker, 2011). Portfolio mobilization of scientists working with many international governmental and non-governmental centers of excellence, universities and think tanks as well as the private sector to promote awareness, are working for development of collaboration within the scientific community worldwide to strengthen international security and for peaceful and sustainable chemistry, physics and nuclear science.

It is clear that in the fight against terrorism we cannot rely only on military force. Military power plays an important but not exclusive role. It has to be supported by other joint and very costly measures in the social, economic, and political ...
