History v. Hollywood: Did they get it right or wrong?

Filming and Media are amongst the strongest mediums of communication to have existed at all times. Either through post, books, letter or just plain visualization, the world has now become an epitome of communication. Just like the marketing concept of 'Word of Mouth', the world has now become the 'World of Mouth', where businesses, people, even companies can guarantee their success or failure through effective or ineffective communication.

For this paper, our movie in focus is JFK, a documentary done upon the assassination of Sir John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States of America, who had served in the office for a mere small tenure of seven (7) years. Books lovers and people who like to read books tend to seek the many aspects of the actual event that took place at the time. Movies, on the other hand, tend to hold restrictions in terms of having more time and delivering relatively unique movements of actors, actresses and the events at the same time (Afoaku & Ukaga, 2001).

Movies and books have one major thing which is common: plot. Both have been evolved with an idea, a thought to communicate it to its audience - the viewers and the readers - in such a way that proves both relatively impressive, is unique, relevant, original and impactful, strong enough to capture the mind of the one who's reading and the one who is watching the film. Another similarity is dialogue. Movies and books have to have some form of voice and exchange of words and phrases that could be understood, read and heard by the people who are watching or reading their respected codes of communication.
