Thesis statement:

There is a growing need to make efforts to introduce the study of foreign language in the early years of school life. High school can be used as a ground to help students master a foreign language they have previously learnt, but are not suitable for introducing an entirely new foreign language to students.

Introduction

Learning a new language is not an easy task. It could consume enormous amount of energy besides increasing the workload and stress for high school students. Even when students are taught another foreign language in school, it seems that most of them have not even grasped the basics of the new language they tried to learn. This is quite evident when most of the college students usually say that they did learn French or Spanish at school, but still they can't speak it. However, the importance of learning a foreign language is immense and cannot be denied. Learning a new language is not just a matter of national urgency for Americans. If they are to compete effectively in the ever changing world of globalization, they need to be equipped with the ability to speak other languages other than English (Nespor, 1971).

In the ever increasing world of globalization, there is a dire need to know several foreign languages. No doubt that English is an international language, but there are many countries which do not have English as their official language. This is especially true in case of several European countries which are important destinations of investment.

Sub-point 1: A. knowing a foreign language must for local businesses to prosper internationally.

If local businesses want to invest in other countries, then there is a strong need for knowing the language of the country where they are doing business. This is necessary so that they can prosper and place their footing on a strong hold.

Sub-point 2: B. increased awareness of another culture conducive in doing business in that country

While there are many ways of enhancing a business, the most significant one is doing it according to the social norms and culture of the people. Having an understanding of the language will be conducive in adapting to the culture of that country.

Main point 2: II. Beneficial for progressing in other academic subjects

Learning another language helps expand intellectual development and other skills that are helpful in learning two languages. It also means that you have a wider vocabulary and knowledge of syntax that aids in learning new subjects.

Sub-point 1: A. Development of basic skills enhanced

Basic skills are enhanced through knowing more than one language. This is because it becomes easier to adapt to new learning topics.

Sub-point 2: B. Enhances Creative thinking

Another important point is that the creative ability such as creative thinking and creative writing is enhanced through learning another language. Students who know more than one language fare better at creative writing and thing than those know just one language.
