All of the coutnries in the world play host to a multitude of different races and nationalities. With travel being as easy as it is nowadays, there is no coutnry in the world which can cliam to be 100% localized. Cabaretta is one such city in Australia in which there is a heavy concentration of the Vietnamese people. Following are a few pictures of the neighborhoods and their effects.
Discusion
The picture shows the positive effects of Cultural Concentration. In a normal circumstance, the culture of Australia does not include making sculptures of animals because they do not hold them in high regard as a part of the culture. In the fashion in which the above Tortoise is displayed on a pedestal behind him showing the menu. This kind of decorative scenery which is evident here is a norm of the Vietnamese culture, but is not very common in the Australian culture itself. In this case, the cultural difference adds to the beauty of the neighborhood, lending it an exotic air.
This picture depicts a Home Loan establishment in the midst of generic Australasian shops. Here the culture is not being an asset to the society. It is not contributing to the beauty of the landscape or giving any sort of advantage. It is evident in a single glance the shop is using his Vietnamese heritage only as a point of advertisement. He wishes to attract customers or people with Vietnamese decent towards his establishment only because they have common culture. This is in other words taking negative advantage of culture in a multi-cultural society.
In this scenario, a whole market is created by the Vietnamese. The whole collection of culture specific shops depicting the culture together is both a positive and a negative together. The positive is that it brings a slice of foreign land, complete as it is right into the country without any problems. But however, at the same time, neighborhoods like these act as headquarters for culture specific gangs or Triads. They create problems for the culturally different people, if they wish to try to enter the neighborhood. However, as evident from the picture, this particular issue does not exist in this specific neighborhood, as both a Vietnamese person and two white people can be clearly seen walking around.
Hotel like these are excellent examples of mixed cultural advantages. It allows its patrons to experience the foreign cuisine along with the environment and the ambiance of the foreign culture all rolled into one. In such places, the immigrants are welcomed to work so as to legitimize the experience. Also, the other foreign patrons who belong to the same culture, in this case the Vietnamese culture, the people of this culture will also prefer to visit these places as it would be cultural relative to them and they will find it more to their liking.
