Factory Farming

Introduction

One of the most important aspects of clean living is to have a healthy surrounding environment. It is something that has great significance in our lives no matter what part of the country we are in, or whatever situation. The promotion of health has seen much spotlight, through a healthy and safe environment. Since humans are closely connected with the environment, their quality of life is affected through every seemingly insignificant interaction with nature. One of these global environmental issues making the headlines lately is factory farming, alternatively known as industrial agriculture. It was noted in he 1920's that with a combination of Vitamins A and D, the livestock would no longer require grazing in fields or need the amount of feed that is normally required. Thus, the practice of exercise and sunlight animals would get got diminished, so that the animals could all be kept in one place and the extra effort required in letting them roam freely wouldn't be needed. All year round, animals are kept indoors in tight, confined spaces at these factory farms, thus It is easy to imagine the neglectful conditions and the spread of disease among them. Even in the 1940's, this practice was considered harmful, yet it has carried on even now with farmers needing to keep their businesses going all year round. It is the process with which food and fiber production occurs, the problem arises when the production methods exploit animals and the environment. Thus, the mass production of crops and livestock turns into a heated debate amongst environmentalists, farmers, corporations, and animal right activists (Norris, 2003). The consequences of this practice are catastrophic, since it utilizes livestock and the environment in a negative manner. It also puts into jeopardy the health of the customer, who places their trust in the retailer that they are being sold high quality products. In this paper, I will be highlighting the processes of factory farming and its adverse effects on society as a whole.

Discussion

There are many setups around the world for promoting global environmental health, the aim objective of which is to promote healthy environments and carry out further research on how to get better results. There are complex research facilities that work hard at understanding the factors that lead to the destruction of the environment, and studying the effects that are severely harmful. These facilities also come up with solutions for the safety of the environment and handling the current situation dealing with the burgeoning effects of environmental pollution. Thus these facilities raised the alarm bell when factory farming conditions were looked into. Not only are they extremely unhealthy and unhygienic, the hazardous substances can even effect the end user no matter how many times products are cleaned.
