Evidence Based Literature Review

Introduction

Successful doctors have been dealing with patients since many years. Patients tend to refer to doctors who have been practicing since long and who have been the chosen doctors of other people as well. A doctor who has been fortunately successful over many years in diagnosing and treating diseases may develop a feeling of pride in him. This leads to over confidence in a doctor. An over confident doctor can cause major trouble for the patient. In this paper I will be considering the review of literature along with two interviews conducted on the importance of doctor's diagnosis of a disease which is followed by the treatment, and the danger of over diagnosis.

Evidence-based practice joined evidence-based medicine with the introduction of psychiatric journals in 1998. The ideas of evidence-based practice are old, but its assumptions are sound, the reservations are based on how its tenants are promoted. There is only one evidence accepted about treatment which is derived from randomized controlled trails. In evidence-based practice, the role of therapist as a doctor is being undermined, and the social aspects and psychological effects of medicine are neglected by EDP.

A question that may arise is that over confidence in which sense? This is pretty simple. A doctor deals with many patients a day. Out of them more than half of the patients show the same signs and symptoms of a particular disease. The doctor evidently will treat them accordingly. If however, a patient then appears with not exactly but almost with the same sign and symptoms, the doctor would readily declare his disease to be the same as that of others and start treating him accordingly (Yatham, Maj, 2011). This mishap only occurs when a doctor has been dealing with patients successfully and the patients become pretty content with his treatment. He thinks since he has flourished with many patients he would eventually be victorious in curing the other patient's disease too. The following analysis will be based on the reflection of two physicians A and B.

I am working as a chief doctor in New York Diagnostic Medical Care. There are number of test conducted every day in the facility. If I intend to calculate the daily checkups and test I supervised the figure may approximately exceed over hundreds. This is indeed a stressful job but I intend to give my 100% accuracy in commenting the reports of the patients. Most of by practice is related to ADHD in children. Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is commonly diagnosed in children who are hyperactive. Hyperactive children are mostly taken to a psychiatrist to diagnose if there is any disorder which can be dealt with to reduce the hyperactivity. Seeing the condition a psychiatrist usually renders in declaring the child with ADHD which at times is not an appropriate decision.

The reason behind is again increased awareness of the disorder. A mistake that ...
