Introduction

Today, there is strong competition in the market and crisis in past caused people to think seriously about their career. Career management is a self-motivating and self-monitoring process in which a person plans his/her career by setting and choosing personal goals, and prepare strategies to achieve those objectives. For a person, career management is important because it helps him in developing leadership and management skills. It also increases success chances of a person because it lets us to know a lot about his/her self such as what to do, where to go, and when to do. In competitive industry of today, managers also need every advantage to move their career to next level (Hall, 2002). Career management is not only important for new entries but also for existing employees in an organization. For existing employees, career management is also responsibility of organizations. We all have heard of social networks which are playing a key role in managing a person's career. Today social media is considered as the most effective and important tool used by people to streamline and advance job search or career (Hall, 2006). In this paper I am going to analyze the impact of social media on career management.

Aim/Purpose

Today's people are socializing through computer without putting much effort they get connected with the entire world and people are effectively involved in networking for various purposes. However, the purpose of this research is to let readers know about the today's importance of social media in career management of a person. There are various people using social media, but they are not using social network as an effective tool for career management so this research will let those people know about effective ways to use social media for their career management along with its importance and impacts. In addition, the research will also aware management of companies about the importance and effects of social media in career management as organizations also plays an important role in career management of an employee.

Thesis Statement

Social Media has positively impacted career management on individual and organizational level. Individuals are using social media for finding jobs and building effective relationships while organizations are getting helped by social media for finding best suitable candidate.
