Born in Boston on 19 January 1809, Poe lost his parents in his childhood; he was then adopted by John and Frances Allan of Richmond in Virginia, where he spent most of the early days of his life. His literary career begun humbly by the anonymous publications of the compilation of his poems called Tamerlane and Other Poems. Poe shifted to Baltimore, where he continued to live with his paternal family. After the demise of her step mother, Poe was expelled from the university only because of the reason of the lack of availability of the funds to pay his fees. It was a dark era in his life he became depressed and started to consume excessive alcohol, and started gambling which was followed by his attempted suicide in the year 1849 (Poe, 15). In the year, Poe married his young cousin, named Virginia. Their marriage lasted for ten years until she got in to the epidemic disease of tuberculosis and died. Poe eventually disappeared after the first week of her demise. It is still quite ambiguous about what happened to him during this tenure.
