Introduction

Historical status of women in USA

Women in USA are of equal proportion, as compare to men but there history comprised of several dark incidents that they have faced because of gender discrimination, and concept of inequality. In year 1848 Elizabeth caddy Stanton lead women movement demanding the authorities to provide legal, social, and civil rights to women (Belmont, 2002). Founder of this movement aim to change the life style of women that are were suffering from several issues prevailing in the society, and were able to accomplish their mission up to larger extent. However, in the mid of eighteenth century after the American war, the convention of women was abolished, and for several years after that women of USA were observed fighting against the slavery of man, and society.

Women struggled throughout the period of nineteenth century, but during the world war one and two, society was forced to realize their services thanks to Florence nightingale a woman who devoted his whole life for serving the wounded people. Further, during the twentieth century, women started several movements to free themselves from the slavery of society, and because of these efforts, women were finally allowed to participate in various national activities like taking effective part in army, by applying for jobs in various factories, offices, and government offices (Belmont, 2002). In addition to this, US authorities drafted several laws such as in year 1963 equal pay act was amended in the legal structure. Further, in year 1964 women civil right law was inducted in the legal system, thus enabling women to attend higher education, to take important decision of their life like marriage, abortion, and various others.

Status of Women today

Women in United States in today's modern world have achieved incredible accomplishment in almost every field of life, however, there are some aspects where women still being discriminated because of their different gender. In spite of discrimination, young women dreams of becoming a doctor, engineer, pilot, lawyer, and manager, and aims to work alongside men in every field of life.

Despite of becoming a leader in their respective careers women still face certain limitation, but the positive aspect is that there, confidence level is extremely high, and they are ready to face any challenge that society through at them, and are not afraid of being criticize for their behavior. For instance, women in today's era are not afraid to work in place that requires physical strength for example they are working in police, are working in firefighters, are also working in coalmines, and others (Belmont, 2002). Because of their hard work, women have able to redefine their self-steam, and are proud of their achievement, for example, a mother of four year old child said, that previously they dream of marring a professional to enjoy the benefits of status quo, now they can enjoy all facilities they desire.
