ABSTRACT

Obesity is a growing concern in the UK, the effects on adult morbidity as a result is very shocking and on children, although they cannot be forecast as of yet, they are sure to be detrimental. Investigation into the factors which could influence obesity in children is required urgently in order to prevent the harmful effects of obesity in adulthood. The rising prevalence of obesity in general is a worrying phenomena in itself, added the burden of childhood obesity that is now taking place in many industrialized nations, the problem is only likely to be getting worse. This paper will discuss the concept of obesity and refer it to the ddeterminants of Obesity with reference to an analysis of child obesity trends in Islington PCT.
