Abstract

The aim of this paper is to discuss the women of the period of Renaissance. Not only the women but how they had some influential points more than men which were their desires, sexual relations and lust. This paper discusses how women experienced and enjoyed more lust than men in that period where the role of women was very limited, conservative and limited to housekeeping as a mother and wife. The author was well aware of the position of women in society. The author has described an imbalanced strike of lusty desire among men and women. According to the author, women desire more lust then men. The author has portrayed women to be more sexual than men. The author, Boccaccio proves that the women exceed men in some aspects of life. In The Demaceron, about hundred stories are described by the author where the majority of the stories are related to the sexual influence of women on men. The author is more like an advocate to women. The author has portrayed women to outshine men in many positive and negative ways. In many stories, Boccaccio portrays that women portrays more adversity than men. The author described women to be more tolerant than men. Through the stories, Boccaccio has described and emphasized on the human desires and nature of sex. The author has linked the stories with lust, sex and human desires by describing various sexual experiences and encounters with nature and outdoors. The stories tell that though women did not have much importance as per their roles in society but they made men lose in many other aspects of life.

Introduction

This paper discusses the women of Renaissance and their deprived importance in society in general. The paper highlights how the women who were expected to play the role of wives and mothers, outcome men on the basis of desire, lust and sexual relationships. The aim of this paper is to discuss the desire and sexual relations in Renaissance period as described in the Boccaccio's Decameron. The woman in this period, has a quality inherent in the beauty. Her job is knowing how to govern the right of the husband, the house and children, more needs to be able to live by the rules of court life: in particular, must entertain all kinds of 'man with grateful thoughts and honesty. This novella is based on hundred different stories which mainly focus on adultery, sex without marriage and seduction by women's beauty. The aim of this paper is to discuss the desire and sexual relation as presented by the writer, Giovanni Boccacci, in the novel Decameron (Kulshrestha 2010, 1).
