Decision Making - Observation Review

Part 1

The purpose of this essay is to review a decision I have observed in the workplace. My workplace is Airbus SAS. Airbus SAS is a subsidiary of EADS, the largest European and world's second largest aircraft manufacturer. It is headquartered in Toulouse. The organization is based on the division of labour at the international level. Form the last several years, Airbus SAS has been facing the severe cross culture management issues. We can say that Airbus face sometimes severe cross cultural management issues to motivate its global employees as each country differs from the other country on various factors such as political, economic, legal, social, cultural, legal, ethical factors. I believe that many companies have suffered from the failure of their international assignments because they have too often neglected the intercultural preparation of their employees. Therefore, the managers at the Airbus face daily various cross cultural issues based on the religion, ethnicity, nationality, personal norms and values etc. 37,000 people work in the four European manufacturers on 13 Airbus aircraft Airbus.

In order to promote the cross cultural management, Airbus SAS had taken various decisions to enhance and promote the cultural management. There are various internal and external factors which had influenced the Airbus SAS to promote cross cultural management in company. The verbal and nonverbal communication is important part of the cross cultural management. A good interpreter will not only translate but will instruct on how to be culturally sensitive. Cross Culture at the Airbus can affect productivity and other aspects of work, both positively and negatively. It is important for board members to have an understanding of the culture of their company and how it affects their workers (Mirestean, 2005).

The changing global scenario of the aviation industry have forced Airbus to realize that it is important to learn more broadly about the country or the company where it operates, because much behaviour, attitudes or values are different from those that are know in our own country or company of origin. Airbus HR teams can develop and effectively deploy the tools and practices by controlling induced intercultural issues. Airbus consortium must realize that the effectiveness of intercultural teams is not automatic. Intercultural management requires a real investment of the company in the development of a dynamic conducive for learning and mutual enrichment of its multicultural members. This requires the willingness of leaders to empower employees around a specific project.

Part 2

I believe that there are various implications of bounded rationality decision making model for the Airbus SAS. The bounded rationality model is based on the principal that people do not try to optimize but choose the first alternative that meets their current level of aspirations. This is called satisfying. The decision makers use approaches to reduce large problems of the employees so that they can make decisions faster. According to this model, the steps for decision making are: Set the goal to get or define the problem to be ...
