Curriculum Mapping Review

Introduction

Curriculum is something that entails knowledge worthwhile for the development of the young mind. The purpose of the school's should be to provide children with a learning environment that makes them love the exercise of learning. It should be to instill in them the value that the purpose of education is to learn and be a learner for life. It is essentially a document that defines the structure of subjects, the sequence of the study and the total amount of allotted time for this. The curriculum entails a complete list of subjects by grade level, the number of hours (lessons) to be allocated to each item of the week, the academic year and for all years of education, such as the native language, mathematics, physical education, etc., periods of production practice, camp fees, and the duration of school term and holidays (Cloin, 1998). It thus, regulates the structure of the school year and determines the general order of classes. It includes the teaching goals, summary of the course contents, type and number of learning controls (egg oral or written tests); these are often treated separately in so-called examination regulations, where appropriate a list of basic literature (textbook list) and more recently, competencies such as the methods, material and expertise that will reach students, it is also referred as an educational plan.

The matter of curriculum alignment has been found to be very important in the studies pertaining to urban schooling system, that have been able to progress on closing the achievement gap.
