Contrast one modern and one post-modern artwork from the SFMOMA

Introduction

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) offers an example of a clean and simple Horizontal bands of color combined with minimal logo text, a clear site search box, a couple of the current exhibition images, and less than a dozen single word links give users all that is needed to determine where they want this large site to take them next. It would be unrealistic and inappropriate to expect academic libraries to achieve this level of reductionism on their library homepages. The type of visually concerned design processes found on the SFMOMA sites can be transferred to any academic library Web site. Start by doing a quick look at a library's homepage graphical layout and complete an assessment of the degree of text saturation. A modern, large-scale educational information organization like an academic library contains an overwhelming amount of resources.

Charlie Parker

Charles 'Yardbird' Parker is a jazz icon -- a founding father of be-bop, a soloist of nearly unbelievable power and originality. Worshiped by many of his followers during his lifetime, Parker was transfigured into myth when he died in March 1955 at the age of thirty-four. BIRD LIVES was the popular graffiti slug of the day, and the cult of personality that surrounded Parker, owing to his prodigious consumption of drugs and alcohol as well as to his talent, has often overshadowed his art. One character in the Parker mythology was Dean Benedetti, a California saxophonist. Legend had it that after hearing Parker for the first time, Benedetti swore never to play the saxophone again and dedicated his life to following Parker and recording, with a wire recorder, every one of his performances. It was an affectionate tale, and when Benedetti died in Italy in 1957, no one knew where the recordings were, or even if they existed (Brian, 18).

The artistic choices, influences of the artists

In the classical form, of severe bebop variations reached its highest level. Innovation of the harmonic language is very broad use of tonal variations, but within each tonal shift harmonic chains contain the basic functions of interpretation and, as a rule, were not long. At this stage, all shape the musical logic of verbal thinking and language-jazz improvisers - the result of broad, practical process literally massive ensemble music. The largest contribution to the process introduced Charlie Parker. His fingers fluttered over the valves. His face looks like a flying bird. For the sound, rhythm, harmony, technique, in any key he was free as a bird. Whatever his status, no matter what instrument he played (and he often turned out of his), he could easily play that baffled others.
