Abstract

The purpose of study is to compare student preferences of Greek organizations versus honor society affiliations which emphasizes in identifying the protective factors and factors risk associated with alcohol consumption in college students, expanding social connection and professional development of the students. An experiment was conducted to determine students' preference of certain on-campus organizations. Participants were 40 female (N = 21) and male (N = 19) university students. Participants completed a ten questions survey that consisted of four main sections: early extra-curricular experiences, factors in the decision process, involvement and background information. The study found that the students coming to class well rested and alert, this can help you with daily morning exercise; be active during the training sessions, as a passive presence in the audience for "tick" will help to promote success and actively and efficiently use the time in between classes, since the movements can be the best source of recovery and rest.

Background of the study

The phenomenon that are alcohol consumption in college students, expanding social connection and professional development of the students are seen very marked in the areas adjacent to the Greek Organizations and Honor Society Affiliations. The social connection, professional development of the students and consumption of alcohol by the students is a public health problem that deserves to be studied. Situation which poses the question that is what is the pattern of consumption of alcoholic, social connection and professional development of the students, its risk factors and also the health consequences for students.

In context of alcohol consumption in college students, expanding social connection and professional development of the students the factors that are important include beliefs about vulnerability and the environment: The use and trafficking of illegal drugs is in all social strata, with young people most susceptible to marijuana, crack and cocaine inside and outside the University. Alcohol and snuff were not considered drugs. Beliefs about risk factors: Only young people at risk by curiosity, low self-esteem, family breakdown and pressure groups that induces consumption and trade for their livelihood. Beliefs about health damage: The consumption of illicit drugs in young people cause nervous system disorders, respiratory and digestive tracts that can cause death. Consumers are people with physical, mental and behavioral drug use among young people is serious and terrible. Beliefs about stereotypes: Consumers are sick, weak and criminal behavior. Beliefs about protective factors: family support, good parent-child relationship, the proper use of leisure time, the strengthening of values ??and information campaigns to protect young people from using drugs. Beliefs about the conditions of protection: youth participation in sports, recreational, religious would help maintain a healthy life away from drugs. The values ??inculcated in the home, project design life, high self-esteem and productive around people prevent drug use in young people.
