Introduction

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a novel considered one of the first great American novels. This novel by Mark Twain is also known to be one of the first American novels to introduce realism Flaubert "local color". Published for the first time in 1884, this is a novel in first person where the eponymous Huckleberry "Huck" Finn, best friend of Tom Sawyer (hero of the other books of Mark Twain) recounts his adventures. His young hero, characterized by his innocence, and describes the customs and landscapes he discovers along the Mississippi: he is famous for its naive approach of the different personalities that surround it, and in respect of racism of the time. The journey undertaken by Huck and his friend Jim, a runaway slave, on the Mississippi on a makeshift raft is probably one of the strongest allegories of liberty in the release of all American literature (Bloom, H. 1990).

Of Mice and Men

Of Mice and Men (English of Mice and Men) is a novel of American author John Steinbeck. The book was published in 1937 and was the first time in 1940 by Elisabeth Rotten translated into German. It describes the story of two migrant workers who dream of a better life, and is regarded as a typical work of the American Dream. Steinbeck wanted to call the first novel something that happened. With the title Of Mice and Men, he quoted the poem To a Mouse [1] of the Scottish poet Robert Burns, which describes the relationship of farmers to the mice in his field.

The relationship of Huck and Jim can be compared to that of George and Lennie, but to a small degree with both have obvious differences (and similarities).

Huck's and Jim's individual personalities and their relationship to one another

The relationship between Huck and Jim in this context denotes completely, of course that feeling of awakening of the conscience is clear. Huck treats Jim as his equal, though it really is the bond of friendship and affection which is the heart of the novel before skin color.
