Cognition is the word used for thoughts and cognitive restructuring is a psychotherapeutic process of learning and reforming the thoughts which are associated with many mental health disorders. It is a complex procedure in which the individual undergoes the cognitive therapies in order to reframe his perceptions and counter the rational disorders. In this paper, a case is discussed about the people who switch to the conclusion directly based on their initial interaction without analyzing the facts which frame the particular situation (Dombeck & Wells-Moran, 2006). Particularly in this case an individual is highlighted who is afraid of his surrounding and is concerned about the perception people hold in their minds about him. Furthermore, the individual thinks that other person has negative feeling about him, without even knowing the truth. Hence, this essay will frame how the cognitive restructuring process helps in reforming the thoughts of a particular individual.
Discussion
In order to implement the cognitive restructuring procedure, individual has to undergo the series of four stages. These stages ensure that the complete essence of the process has been transmitted to the individual and his problems are countered effectively. Hence, because of the subconscious thought procedure, individual have to suffer depression and other down sides of the mood which results in distortion in the life events.
