Abstract

The paper describes the details and importance of Christian counseling and its various aspects. The counseling includes thorough analysis of problems that a counselee is facing and provides him clear guidance and vision of his life in a religious way. The paper also entails the way in which counseling can be done effectively like clarifying the present, clear understanding of mission and vision of life and the change through which problems can be resolved in a more effective way. Different counselors use different approaches of life. Some focus on reality while others focus on spiritualism.

The paper includes the introduction of the author, Christian counseling, how counselor clarifies the present, development of mission and vision and focus on future aspects of life that ensure the success and happiness in long run.

Introduction

In the book, the authors explained that he had been turned sixty this year but cannot face the reality of getting old and different from youth and adults. He wants to get isolated from all the friends and family and so, came to Playa Tembor resort where he can think of his life and his goals by sitting at the resort and getting away from his birthday party given by his family and friends. He consulted his friend George Callendine, a consultant to church and business leaders.

Counseling refers to advising or guiding a counselee to follow proper guideline that lead to success and happiness of life. A coach can be a mentor, fitness coach, public speaking coach, financial coach etc but Christian coach is very rare or does not exist. The other types of coaching are concerned with the growth and success of practical life but Christian coaching is mainly based on the spiritual happiness and success which makes a person different from others and can get away from many tensions and personal problems. Coaching is different from counseling. Coaching focuses on the choice of goals and right directions towards success whereas counseling means to advice a counselee to choose the right path to get rid of past problems and depression.

Clarifying the present

The counselor needs to identify the problem and reason why counselee needs counseling on religion. The counselor must have knowledge about Christianity and knows the person's nature of problem and a solution to it. He explains that there are many beautiful things present in the world like joy, happiness, peace, human relationships, love and the like (Lambie & Marcel, 2002).

It is extremely essential for counselors to recognize that there are some human problems beyond the control of human power to solve. Even the warmest love and the finest counseling are not enough. The helping relationships of Christians are based on contextual in faith and devotion. Not only this, the power above us is also helping and working with them.
