Introduction

Spelman College is an independent and private college educating black women who have spark for liberal arts. The college is known as one of the most famous higher education institutions in United States of America. This year, Black Enterprise magazine recognized Spelman, as No. 1 among the list of top 50 prestigious and Ivy League colleges. Spelman College was founded in the year 1881. Since, its inception the college has been serving women with passion for liberal arts. The college is known as one of the most famous higher education institutions in United States of America (Carter & Helms, 1990). This year, Black Enterprise magazine recognized Spelman, as No. 1 among the list of top 50 prestigious and Ivy League colleges. Spelman College campus is located in Atlanta, Georgia. The student body comprised of more than twenty one hundred students from forty one states and fifteen foreign countries, with the staff to student ratio being 1:9. Spelman College has been famous to award two degrees that are Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts. It inspires the students to learn different languages and encourage them to make efforts that bring a positive change in the world (Lefever, 2005).

Spelman alumnae are running national corporations, making scientific research contributions, and founding nonprofit organizations; its students are engaged in mitigating large-scale disasters, from raising money for housing in Haiti to detoxifying oil spills. Spelman has propelled graduates to the forefront of the arts, child advocacy, finance, law, medicine, public service, science, and many other fields (Lefever, 2005).
