Introduction

This paper sets out to examine a phenomenon that has been studied relatively recently: that of bullying and its effects. Bullying has been established as a feature of schools and playgrounds for many years and as such has received considerable attention.

Bullying

The term “bullying” has been described as a global concept that incorporates harassment, intimidation, and aggressive or sometimes violent behaviors. Several terms have been used by researchers to describe the same basic phenomenon (Olweus, 2003). Bullying occurs when a person is constantly tormented by a person or a group with more power, either by physical strength or social status.

Why I chose this topic

I chose this topic a couple of reasons first because I was bullied in school myself and more than anything I can remember the feeling of having no one to turn too and being made to feel so isolated myself. Also I believe it is one of the main factors why bullies are able to bully someone because of isolating them from their friends and peers. I chose this topic because bullying is a major barrier to student learning, students lose their confident and they fall into isolation because of bullying and it is very difficult for them to overcome the effects of bullying, so I want bullying to stop from initial stage. Another reason behind choosing this topic is because recently researchers are focusing on this particular problem at school as well as workplace and I have little knowledge about this topic so more research and studies on this topic will enhance my knowledge and I would be able to help students from falling into isolation because of bullying by giving my own example. It a good idea to research something more about bullying sometimes it seems mandatory.

How it will impact my life?

It will help me to realize the severity of bullying. In addition it will seek me to empower the Ministry of Education to carry out a program of eradication of violence and committed bullying among students. I think it's a great initiative that will be analyzed and where appropriate, carried out with care to avoid actions that will be implemented to put a stop to this social scourge. As I was bulled in school and fell into isolation, that feeling was very bad and I don't want other students to fall into the same isolation that is why I want to study this topic, these studies will make me relaxed internally, because I would be more than happy if my studies would help students. We need a change in attitude, increased involvement of parents, of course, men and women to educate their young love, that's the long way, because apparently it is more difficult to educate with tenderness and patience to the pavement way of "good intentions" of the violent repression to "educate" and "do as I say not as I do."
