The women rights of voting policy had been designed by the Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott in 1848. The main purpose of this policy was to give the equal voting rights to the women in United States (Rogers, 1992).
The context of the problem
In the 18th century the women were not provided with the equal rights. This policy had been established to give the rights to women for voting. There was so much discrimination on the basis of gender in United States. Therefore, the women leaders in United States have noticed these problems faced by U.S. women and took a step to deal with these problems. The “women rights of voting” is also a result of these efforts made by the U.S. women leader (Frost, 2005). As a result of this policy, the women in United States have first time used their right of voting in the early nineteenth century i.e. 1920. For the purpose of implementing this policy, different movements have been started by the women leaders. The different legislators have taken action against the women rights of voting (Rogers, 1992). Among these legislators, one young legislator named Harry Burn who was of 24 years had placed his vote in favor of the amendment for suffrage.
Suggestions from the policy to address the problem
The policy of “Women rights of voting” had brought very effective results in United States at that time (Rogers, 1992). Due to the enactment of this policy, the women in United States had started voting and the women have exercised their rights of voting in the Election of 1920 for the very first time (Rogers, 1992). Thus, this policy had brought effective results for the purpose of giving the equal rights to women in United States and providing them the assurance that they are also equally treated.
Official and unofficial, and interest groups involved in the policy
In the policy of “Women rights of voting” the official players that were involved were Legislative branch, Executive branch (president, governor) and judicial branch (courts)(Almond& Powell, 1978, pp. 38-57). Unofficial Players involvedin the policy of “Women rights of voting” were Interest Groups, Political Parties, Think Tanks, and The News Media.
Role and function of each of the players in the policy making
Legislative Branch
The role and function of legislative branch is that it makes laws, hold hearings and also casework is done by it for the constituents. The basic role that legislators play is that of representation of the nation or state. According to the intellectuals through legislative branch the citizens see, listen and speak. The core function of the legislative branch is to see and control the administration of the state, to publicize the actions of government, to induce a complete explanation and verification of all of the actions which are questionable to others and also to disapprove those acts which should be disapproved. Besides getting their validity by expressing the wish and need of people, the legislative branch plays other roles as well (Bauer&Gergen, 1968, ...
