The Greeks and the Romans are people who are high on mythology. The mystery of the Pandora box is an excellent way of communicating the reality of human kind to them. It is an expression of the human sentiments and how it they can be directed for both virtue and vice. The paper presents the details of the selected mythological figure - Pandora's Box. Pandora is the name given to the first women created using mud upon the request of Zeus who wanted a daughter for himself. This request was made to Hephaestus so that the woman who was a personification of beauty was sent to earth to marry Epimetheus.

The Greek mythology consists of Greek Gods, House of Tantalus, Roman Gods, Women in myth, Trojan War and others. Discussion

The selected figure is related to the female goddess in mythology name Pandora and represents feminine power. Pandora is the name given to the first women created using mud upon the request of Zeus who wanted a daughter for himself. This request was made to Hephaestus so that the woman who was a personification of beauty was sent to earth to marry Epimetheus. This man was lonely and he needed someone to look out for him. He was gentle and deserved someone like Pandora in whose creation every god had contributed something good (Kitts, p. 48). The figure presents the curiosity which is a part of human nature and has cost man many things on different occasions.

Pandora was created using water and earth. She is the living example of the craftsmanship of Hephaestus. The woman who was made from power of several things bestowed in her by different Gods and yet she ends up opening a box full of evil. She possessed beauty, music and persuasion. The curiosity that caused the action was blessed her by the god Jupiter. She is so important in Greek mythology, Pandora, as she is the first ever mortal female to have lived (Yates, p. 752). She is considered as another shade of Eve for the Greeks.

There are two versions of the story related with Pandora. One, which is less known, is one that states that Pandora was created to punish the man who took her. In the other version, Pandora was all virtue and she ended up doing what she did only out of curiosity. There was no element of evil in her action and/or decision.
